Lesson 4 of 5

Changing jobs the right way

Leave on good terms and take your experience with you.

3 min +10 points

Find the new job first

Don't leave your current job until you have a new job confirmed, ideally with an offer letter.

Give proper notice

Tell your employer politely, in person, and give notice: usually one week to one month, as agreed when you joined. Finish your work and hand over keys, tools and uniforms.

Ask for these before you go

  • An experience letter that says your job and dates.
  • Your final salary and any pending dues.
  • Your PF details (UAN), so your PF moves with you.

Leave on good terms

Thank your employer and co-workers. The trade world is small; your old boss may be asked about you, or may hire you again.
